Barrhaven Nursery School
In April 1986, Mr. Doug Colins, President of the Barrhaven Community Association approached Mrs. Helena Hall to spearhead a committee of voluntary community members to establish a much needed child care centre in Barrhaven. After three years of hard work this dream became a reality. On September 18, 1989, the Barrhaven Child Care Centre, a hub model linking Mary Honeywell School, opened its doors to receive children ranging from the ages of six weeks to ten years. The Barrhaven Child Care Centre is a non-profit Corporation and now a registered charity which is operated by a voluntary Board of Directors of professionals from the Barrhaven Community

In 1993, we opened a satellite drop-in program located at the Jockvale United Church. In 1995, an additional daycare was opened linked to Jockvale Public School. ABOUT THE BCCC

To excel in the provision of accessible and affordable quality childcare and family resource services designed to optimize early childhood development and social wellbeing.
At Barrhaven Child Care Centre we believe children are entitled to opportunities that support and encourage their emotional, social, cognitive and physical growth and development. We seek to stimulate and develop children’s creative thinking and problem solving skills through both teacher and child directed activities. We strive to promote a positive self-image for each child by encouraging exploration, fostering the development of social skills, cultivating friendships and promoting a strong sense of community. We support, encourage, and facilitate a co-operative working relationship with parents in order to meet the needs of the children entrusted to our care.
