Our Junior Toddler Program is for children 18-24 months. This program can enroll three children between the ages of 15-17 months. There is space for 15 children in this program with a 1:5 educators to child ratio.
While all children develop in similar ways, each child is unique and developmental milestones are reached at different rates. All aspects of development are stimulated throughout the day along with nurturing Educators, consistency, security, and trust. Music is a very important aspect of our program. Toddlers love to sing, especially when a song has lots of actions and repetition. Art and sensory activities are incorporated daily into our toddler program. The children thoroughly enjoy these activities.
Educators and parents seek a common goal to nurture and guide children in a loving safe and secure environment.

The Senior Toddler Program expands on the learning that has happened in the Junior Toddler Program by providing age appropriate activities to enhance the developmental milestones that have been achieved. All areas of the children’s development will be stimulated throughout the day with the opportunity for planned and spontaneous activities. Each area of the room will be an opportunity for the children to enhance their learning through the activities that are provided by the Educators in the Dramatic Play, Art, Sensory, Cognitive and Free Play areas. These are all important factors to establish a safe, secure and trusting environment for your children.

Our Senior Preschool Program helps children prepare for Kindergarten. The learning environment is play based and set up based on the observations based on the interest of the children. The program helps children expand on their socialization skills with their peers by incorporating more opportunities for group interactions through interactive circle times, show and tell and having the learning centre’s in the room set up for small groups of children. Self- help skills are also supported through providing many opportunities for choices in the classroom as well as encouraging dressing for outdoor time. The Senior Preschool Program is the steppingstone to Kindergarten.

Barrhaven Child Care Centre offers the Extended Day Program for families whose children attend Mary Honeywell ES. We are Third Party Operators, which offers this program on behalf of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. The Extended Day Program provides your children with the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities before and after their school day. Some of the activities will include outdoor time, gym time, planned group activities as well as free choice activities. Our program provides children with a seamless transition from their school day to the Extended Day Program. It is also convenient for families as it limits the number of transitions children will have within their day.
Two of our School Age Programs that we provide are specifically designed for the older School Age children. These two programs are in the Child Care Centre and are delivered in an “After School Club” format.
We understand that as children get older, they start to need a different experience with the Extended Day Program. Developmentally the children need to have a more “mature” environment. Our goal with the School Age Club is to endeavour to provide that type of environment for the children.
The rooms that we have secured for this program is a permanent space that will be designed to allow the children to have input into the environment as well as the types of activities that will take place. Having a permanent space for the children will allow them to have ongoing, long term activities that they can work on over multiple days/weeks. It will provide an environment that helps foster some of the milestones that older children experience, such as independence and more in-depth decision-making skills.
